Betty Hankins
B.S., East Texas Baptist College
M.S., TAMU-T

You'll find Ms. Betty Hankins in the new Spanish room. Spanish is now being taught in the Lower School, and you can’t miss the sign on the door. Betty is a Texarkana native who graduated from Texas High before earning a B.S. in English and Spanish from East Texas Baptist College. She also has a M.S. in education from TAMU-T and 18 hours of counseling courses. Her early teaching experience was at Karnack I.S.D., and Trinity Episcopal School in Marshall, Texas. After returning to Texarkana, Betty taught Middle School Spanish for TISD and served as Foreign Language Department Chair while the Spanish curriculum was being formulated. She brings a wealth of experience to this assignment and has lots of fun and exciting plans for Spanish classes. Also, knowing that frequent and consistent use of a language is the key to achievement, all Spanish classes for grades 2-6 will meet three times weekly, with Middle School students extending their class time to 45 minutes.
